The “Pillars”ofSingapore

Brief:

Create a series of coins depicting the Singapore “Pillars of Trade” - Alcohol, Prostitution, Gambling, Opium, and Free Trade.

The brief contained some contentious topics, so the focus is on symbolising Farqhaur’s prescribed ‘Pillars of Trade’ as a historical narrative.

Each design is partly narrative, and partly symbolic. The lion represents Singapore, and each narrative features William Farqhaur, the first governor of Singapore.
